That feeling that I used to get when I first arrived in Paraguay from New York, that bothersome little feeling that the world you helped create, your life as you knew it, is going on without you, and no one even feels your absence.
I feel it now here. Life in Paraguay goes on without me while I sit here missing it. “Here comes that feeling you thought you’d forgotten…”
“I’m embarrassed to tell people I’m Paraguayan.” So instead you feign an Argentine accent and deny your roots and pretend you’re something you’re not?
Ashamed that we come from the same country. Grow up.
